Angelina Jolie Voight is a native of California, more specifically the city of Los Angeles, in which she was born on June 4, 1975 to actor father Jon Voight and actress mother Marcheline Bertrand.
Angelina's younger years were very troubled. She cut herself, suffered from very low self esteem and was estranged from her father. They tried to mend their relationship in 2001, but after he stated that his daughter had "serious mental problems" she said that she didn't want to see him ever.
Jolie started acting at young age but her first breakthrough performance and first Hollywood film happened in 1995 when she starred in "Trainspotting". She met her first husband(Lee Miller) during that filming. Second husband was Billy Bob Thornton.
Then she has starred in many films, but most of their weren't appealing to a wide audience. That changed when she got the role of Lara Croft in "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life", in 2003, a movie which earned over $400 million worldwide.
Her most notable award however, would have to be "The Academy Award" for "Best Supporting Actress" in "Girl", interrupted from 1999. It is with this movie that she had her final breakthrough after which there was no turning back. Other than that she has received three "Golden Globe Awards" and two "Screen Actors Guild Awards".
Aside from being one of the most famous and highest paid actresses in the world today ( not to mention the most beautiful, as she was declared many times) she is a great humanitarian and a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR.
Jolie is currently in a relationship with actor Brad Pit, whom she became involved with after the filming of their movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", and his divorce from his wife Jennifer Aniston. They have three biological- Shiloh, Knox and Vivienn and three adopted children- Madox, Pax and Zahara.
She has 15 known tattoos.
